Windows 10 1909 Release May Be Closer Than We Think

Microsoft has now released the Preview Build from the upcoming Windows 10 1909 to everyone in the Release Preview ring. The company released the first build last week, but it was only offered  to a subset of Release Preview ring Insiders. Microsoft has now increased the "seeker" experience making the Windows 10 1909 (19H2) available for everyone in the Release Preview ring.

"This means that everyone in the Release Preview ring should see a Windows 10, version 1909 update available If they go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update," Microsoft wrote. Insiders in the Release Preview ring will get Windows 10 19H2 Build 18363.329.

Apart from those seeking this update, 10% of Insiders in the Release Preview will also get 19H2 Build 18363.329 automatically. The Release Preview ring still doesn't have access to all the features available to the Slow ring Insiders, which is currently testing Windows 10 19H2 Insider Preview Build 18362.10019.

Microsoft says this isn't the final Windows 10 1909 build

With the first release of Windows 10 1909 in the Release Preview ring, Microsoft had said that this isn't the final build that will be released once Windows 10 1909 is closer to public launch. But the increased "seeker" approach indicates that the release of the next Windows 10 version may be closer than we think.

Microsoft would want to avoid releasing yet another update that is full of bugs, especially since there are no new features arriving with the upcoming October 2019 Update. The company may need to bake this update longer in the Release Preview ring to be able to resolve any reported bugs before Windows 10 October 2019 Update makes its way to the public.

After the disastrous Windows 10 October 2018 Update, Microsoft decided to take a slower approach, released a comparatively stable Windows 10 May 2019 Update, and announced to release the upcoming Windows 10 October 2019 Update (aka version 1909) as a cumulative update focusing more on performance and stability. No exciting new features are planned for this release, but Microsoft has already started to test some major new features for Windows 10 20H1 arriving next year.
