Insider Gaming's founder and chief leaker, Tom Henderson, briefly discussed the state of Ubisoft's upcoming lineup during yesterday's Insider Gaming Weekly podcast. After reiterating that the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced remake is the next big game on the release schedule, he added that the new Ghost Recon title will follow in the pipeline.
It's been a long time since Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, which launched in October 2019 to a mixed reception and underwhelming sales. Ubisoft tried to right the ship with the launch of Immersive mode and the return of the series' trademark AI squadmates, but it was too little, too late. The Battle Royale spin-off Ghost Recon Frontline was canceled in July 2022 after a heavily negative reaction from series fans.
Not long after, in early 2023, Henderson himself shared that the next mainline entry in the tactical shooter franchise would target a 2025 launch. Last year, he updated the project's release window to 2026. Based on what he said in the new podcast, it seems like that's still a possibility, whereas the long-awaited Splinter Cell remake in development at Ubisoft Toronto has been delayed to 2027.
The insider also mentioned that the next Far Cry game has gone "through hell and back". This is one of Ubisoft's most prized IPs, as evidenced by its inclusion in the trio of franchises (alongside Rainbow Six and Assassin's Creed) handled by the new Vantage Studios subsidiary. A couple of months ago, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that two new games are in development for the Far Cry IP; based on earlier rumors, one is a numbered sequel and the other a multiplayer spin-off. These games are also coming in 2027, if not later.
Lastly, Henderson mentioned that the Rayman remake is going well, though even that one was delayed to next year.
