Being the first ever remake of the series, and the remake of one of its most popular entries, Ubisoft is going all in with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. With a new post on its official website, the publisher moved away from the visual comparisons with the original and instead provided some additional details on parkour and core movement improvements, stealth and combat, complete with brand new gameplay footage.

All of the improvements detailed this week seem to be based on the idea of improving what the original had and making it smoother for a more enjoyable experience.

"One thing that we worked on a lot and iterated with feedback we received early on from community members during playtests was to nail the responsiveness and pace of Edward," Paul Fu, Creative Director and veteran developer of the original Black Flag commented in regarding movement. This will result in refined landing animations so that Edward recovers more quickly from a drop, more responsive jumping and a quick speed boost after a wall run for enhanced parkour.

Traversal options are further enhanced by Advanced Parkour, which takes advantage of the latest version of the Anvil Engine which powers Assassin's Creed Shadows to deliver better control over Edward's traversal options.

Stealth also takes advantage of some of the mechanics introduced in Shadows. Eagle Vision now sports the Observe feature that allows players to highlight enemy positions, quest objectives, and clues. This is an extremely welcome feature which I enjoyed a lot in Assassin's Creed Shadows to enhance my stealth gameplay, so I am glad it is coming back. With the ability to crouch at any time, Edward's stealth options are also increased for more viable stealth playstyles.

Crouching modifies Edward’s visibility meter, affecting enemy visibility at medium to long range. This is especially useful while stalking through bushes and rooftops. It also reduces movement stimuli, making it easier for Edward to perform stealth kills," said the game's Creative Director.

Combat in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has also been refined to better reflect what a deadly pirate is capable of. This is represented by the core concept upon which the combat system is based: triggering takedowns. While in this vulnerable state, enemies can be defeated using a Hidden Blade Takedown, a Perfect Parry Takedown, a Wall Takedown, and a Ground Takedown.

With the addition of Perfect Dodge attacks and Heavy Attacks that change depending on the equipped weapon, and the return of the iconic Gun Kata, the more demanding combat of the game with enemies that more readily react to the player's actions will be more engaging than ever.

Looking at what Ubisoft is doing, it's difficult for fans of the series not to get excited about Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced's release on July 9. This also bodes incredibly well for any other remake that may be in development. If the original Assassin’s Creed is indeed getting remade with the same attention to detail seen in Resynced, fans of the series will be in for something truly memorable.
