TSMC has showcased its 'cutting-edge' honey jars produced from bees around its Taiwan facility due to the company's effective ecological changes.
TSMC's Eco-Friendly Changes Have Brought Restored Wildlife Around The Firm's Taiwan Fabs
The Taiwan chip giant is one of the most important companies in the world. As the largest semiconductor fab and consuming several natural resources such as land and water, the firm does have an environmental responsibility. And apparently, TSMC has focused on ensuring that their operations don't affect the natural ecosystem around their facilities, which is why at the '2025 Asia Pacific Sustainability Expo', the company's SVP of Corporate Sustainability showcased TSMC's exclusive honey jars, made in collaboration with local beekeepers and Tunghai University.
TSMC claims that, alongside pushing out process nodes at a rapid pace, it is the firm's responsibility to maintain the balance of nature around its fabs. That is why the Taiwan giant has taken several steps to ensure that it doesn't compromise the wildlife around its production facilities. To showcase its efforts to the public, TSMC displayed 'Ji Mi' honey jars at the Expo, which comes in various flavours. Interestingly, TSMC's green manufacturing efforts have yielded impressive results, and they have managed to restore endangered species around its water fabs.

Water is a necessity for fabs like TSMC, mainly because it is the second most integral amenity after electricity for wafer treatment, which involves processes like lithography, etching, deposition, and polishing. The Taiwan giant has reported issues with water management in its fabs; hence, they have adopted a much more sustainable approach. According to the company's official, TSMC now has a "high water recovery rate", reaching up to 90% for 12-inch fabs and recycled water replacement rate is set to grow up to 30% by 2030.
It's amazing to see firms like TSMC attaching importance to the nature around them. This has definitely brought them results in the form of 'sweet' honey from fab workers, who tend to be bees for now.
