UPDATE 02/06/2026: During the State of Play presentation, it was confirmed that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has indeed been delayed into 2027 and will launch on February 12, 2027, not February 10, as previously indicated.
Original Story:
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the upcoming Unreal Engine 5 remake of the very first Tomb Raider game, seems to have had its release date leak ahead of a potential reveal either during today's State of Play or during one of the other major showcases set for this Summer Game Fest 2026. Steam codes available for pre-order appeared online on Amazon, indicating a February 10, 2027, release date. Which also confirms a previous rumour that the game had been delayed out of 2026.
Back in April 2026, it was rumoured that Legacy of Atlantis had slipped into early 2027, though that rumour was put into question when developer Electric Square, a support studio for the game, reaffirmed a 2026 release a month later.
Now, however, it appears that Electric Square likely wasn't reaffirming anything. Instead, it was toeing the company line, since it would not be their place to reveal a delay. That would fall to Crystal Dynamics, and the last word from the studio on the game's release window was 2026.
Regardless, if we do get a reveal at the State of Play that it has been delayed, it won't be the biggest surprise, as the initial rumour of the game's delay in April came shortly after Crystal Dynamics suffered its fourth layoff in the last twelve months.
Despite layoff statements that try to reassure players that the projects they're looking forward to have been 'unaffected' by layoffs (like ones made by Crystal Dynamics), the truth of the matter is that layoffs impact the whole of a studio. Everyone is emotionally and mentally impacted by the loss of their coworkers to some degree. It just doesn't pass the sniff test to try and say otherwise, and anyone doing so would be hard-pressed to convince anyone that you're 'unaffected' by surviving four waves of mass layoffs at your company in the span of a year.
So with those layoffs in mind, this delay wouldn't be the biggest surprise. And that's without considering the fact that if the game wasn't going to be ready to release within the next few months, it would've had GTA 6 to compete with the deeper we got into the year. Fable already chose to get out of GTA 6's way, so it's not the biggest leap to consider that Crystal Dynamics would make the same choice for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.
