The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, one of the Lovecraftian games set to arrive this year from French publisher Nacon, the same publisher that is on the brink of liquidation, has an official release date. After Nacon and developer ACE Team revealed it would arrive sometime in Summer 2026 back in November 2025, we now know it'll arrive on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on July 15, 2026.

Last week, Nacon was supposed to host its annual Nacon Connect showcase, which would've likely included today's release date announcement for The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, along with looks at other games Nacon has coming for the rest of 2026, including Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, which is set to arrive next month on April 16, 2026.

Days before the showcase was set to take place, Nacon filed for insolvency following an issue with its majority shareholder. While the company's fate is not yet sealed, liquidation is a very real possibility, putting the dozen studios Nacon owns and dozens of projects it has underway, between the ones we know about and the ones still unannounced, very much at risk.

That said, the company has been adamant that "this is not the end," and confirmed that it would see its current suite of announced titles through to their release, hence today's announcement and the above release date trailer, and confirmed the new window for the Nacon Connect showcase, which will now take place in May 2026.

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is a four-player co-op game where players are dropped on an island to explore a cursed jungle that can make you believe your own teammates have become enemies as your player characters slowly go mad on the island.

You'll have to survive the creatures that plague the island while convincing your teammates that you are still one of them. It's an interesting twist on what otherwise appears to be a classic case of co-op PvE gameplay packaged within an incredibly atmospheric Lovecraftian presentation.

Let's hope Nacon is still around to publish it by the time it arrives on July 15, 2026.
