Cyanide Studio Twists a Classic Gothic Tale in its “Puzzlevania,” Dracula: The Disciple, Arriving in 2027 if Cyanide Survives Insolvency

A character in Dracula The Disciple stands with a transformed claw hand, holding a glowing crystal in a gothic interior.

Revealed during the Nacon Connect 2026 showcase event, Cyanide Studios' next game following Styx: Blades of Greed, which released earlier this year. This time, Cyanide is once again bringing a classic character back into the spotlight, but this character is much more well-known than a sneaking goblin. Dracula: The Disciple is Cyanide's next game, and it delivers its own take on the gothic story, as this first-person puzzle game sees you slowly turn into the famous creature of the night.

You play as Émile Valombres, a French archivist suffering from an incurable disease that he is desperate to rid himself of. So desperate that his attempts to find a cure lead him to a dark castle in Transylvania, where you'll dig deeper into occult mysteries in a castle that has been design to be "the ideal playground" for the game's layers of mystery.

Cyanide even goes as far to call it a "Puzzlevania," a cross between a puzzle game and a Castlevania, though it's unclear which elements of Castlevania, beyond its exploration structure, Dracula: The Disciple will pull on. Though it at least feels safe to say you likely won't be brandishing a whip at any point in the game.

Exploring an upside-down castle, however, does at least appear to be on the table of possibilities.

Dracula: The Disciple is set to arrive on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S at some point in 2027, so we'll hopefully get a better look at what exactly is meant by Cyanide's 'puzzlevania' description ahead of its release. If it ever gets there, that is.

A dark cloud hanging over all of the announcements at today's Nacon Connect, though specifically over Cyanide's, is the ongoing upheaval at Nacon due to the studio's insolvency filing. It's already shuttered one studio that filed for insolvency, and while not all of Nacon's subsidiaries have filed for insolvency, Cyanide is one of the few that have. It could very well be on the chopping block within the next few months if it isn't already.
