Despite having been released across multiple console generations, the latest versions of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim don't look that much different from the original release. Technology, however, has moved forward quite a bit since 2011, and if the game were ever to get a proper remake, it would look incredible, judging from a new video shared online.

A new video shared on YouTube by Leo Torres showcases an amazing recreation of Whiterun made with the power of Unreal Engine 5. What makes this recreation so good is that it attempts to give the iconic location the proper scale based on the limited information provided by the series' lore. While a city of this scale may not be great from a gameplay point of view, it is undeniable that it looks amazing, finally making the world of The Elder Scrolls series feel as big as it should be.

As mentioned above, technology made some important strides in the over 11 years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's debut on the market. While Bethesda stopped working on the game a while back, not counting re-releases like The Anniversary Edition, modders are still providing new features and visual improvements to the popular role-playing game. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that an NVIDIA DLSS 3 mod is currently in development, which will allow players to enjoy the game at high resolutions and excellent performance. The first tests have gone great, as the mod in its early state makes the game run at double the frame rate of regular DLSS without Frame Generation. Those who don't own an NVIDIA RTX GPU capable of using DLSS can still get better performance at high resolutions thanks to unofficial FSR 2 support.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Switch worldwide.
