To recap what has happened over the past few days, Elon Musk fired Tesla's head of operations in North America and Europe, Omead Afshsar, resumed his crusade against Trump's signature 'Big, Beautiful Bill,' earning scathing remarks from the US President in the process, and now seems hell-bent on directly overseeing Tesla's persistent sales-related malaise in the US and the EU, as per a report by Bloomberg.

However, Elon Musk's direct oversight of Tesla's sales-related logistics in North America and the EU seems to have come too late to salvage the EV giant's overall deliveries for the just-concluded quarter.

Ahead of today's critical information release from, JP Morgan declared via a dedicated investment note that it now expected Tesla to disclose deliveries of just around 360,000 units vs. consensensus expectations of around 392,000 units.

Before delving into the actual delivery numbers for Q2 2025, do note that Troy Teslike, who is known for his fairly accurate projections of Tesla's quarterly deliveries, expected the EV giant to disclose sales of just around 356,000 units for the now-concluded quarter vs. a consensus estimate (compiled by Tesla IR) of 385,086 units from Wall Street analysts.

Tesla Delivers 384,122 Units In Q2 2025

This brings us to the crux of the matter. Just moments ago, Tesla disclosed that it managed to deliver 384,122 units in Q2 2025 against a production level of 410,244 units. For the benefit of those who might not be aware, Tesla had delivered 336,681 units in the first quarter of 2025 against a production level of 362,615 units.

Under the hood, Tesla delivered 373,728 units of Model 3/Y, and 10,394 units of other models, including the Cybertruck.

Also, at the end of Q1 2025, Tesla's Days of Finished Goods Inventory (also known as global vehicle inventory days of supply) metric stood at 23, based on an inventory level of 103,264 units and an average daily delivery rate of 4,489.08 vehicles (assuming 75 working days in a quarter). For Q2 2025, Tesla’s Days of FG Inventory metric has increased to 25.26, based on a new inventory level of 129,386 units and an average daily delivery rate of 5121.63 vehicles.

Meanwhile, as we noted in a previous post, the NHTSA has now reportedly contacted Tesla after various videos recently surfaced, showing robotaxis committing various traffic violations, which include failure to adhere to lane discipline as well as speed limit violations.

For context, do note that Waymo has logged fewer critical errors over its 10 million completed miles than Tesla has over the past few days, and that too, with a fleet of just 11 robotaxis operating in a geofenced area of Austin, replete with an employee stationed in the front passenger seat and supported by a dedicated team of teleoperators, who are mandated to take over in case of an emergency.
