EA has given released some very nice looking concept art photos of what the Battle of Jakku will look like during the actual iconic battle itself that we'll get to participate in, in Star Wars Battlefront.
Battle of Jakku in Star Wars Battlefront looks to be a desperate and harrowing attempt by the Empire to recapture their glory.
While it's concept art, the images show what we might be able to expect from the actual map itself. Lots of action, explosions and of course a crashing Star Destroyer. I wonder if players can have a role in taking it down, causing it to crash with a combination of aerial combat and using ground-based AA. I can imagine a mechanism similar to the imploding building in Siege of Shanghai. Wouldn't that be spectacular though?
As debris from battles above shower the desert ground, the feeling of chaos is intensifying. A Star Destroyer has just crash-landed and some of its engines are still smoking. The battle has just begun…
The Battle Jakku is very much a pivotal moment for the New Republic, as they move to take advantage of a scattered and weakened Empire. We can see that crash landing hasn't had much of an effect on the morale of the Imperial Navy, as they disembark from the downed Star Destroyer in droves, intent on destroying the Rebel Alliance as quickly as possible.
“We wanted to portray a battle completely surrounding you, in every direction. Debris is falling from the sky, telling the story of battles above. On the surface of the planet you can see ground troops as well as X-wings, all taking part of the fight,”
- Anton Grandert, DICE Concept Artist
The Battle of Jakku in Star Wars Battlefront will be available on December 1st, 2015 for everyone who pre-ordered, and then a week later for everyone else.
