Ever wondered what you'd get if you kept all of the Twin Peaks inspirations that went into Alan Wake, created an original story, and made it a 2D side-scroller instead of a 3D game? Whether that's crossed your mind or not, you don't have to wonder because developer Wych Elm seems to have already figured out an answer to that query with Silver Pines.

The game was first announced back in October 2025, with an eerie trailer that introduced Red Walker, the private investigator you'll play as, sent to the abandoned town of Silver Pines to try and determine what happened to Eddie Velvet, a musician who mysteriously vanished in the town.

Developer Wych Elm and publisher Team17 also describe it as a clash between X-Files and Hotel Dusk. Whatever your touch point, it seems clear that Silver Pines is dripping with eerie vibes and an incredibly interesting atmosphere.

Unfortunately, today's trailer doesn't provide any new information regarding its release date. It's still set to arrive on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2026, which was the release window that came with its initial announcement last October.

Hopefully, we're not waiting too much longer for a proper release date, if it indeed is going to make its 2026 release window. At least in the meantime, we'll be able to sink into another 2D game dripping with atmosphere ahead of Silver Pines' release with Replaced, which is due out next month on April 14, 2026.

Both Replaced and Silver Pines were named in Wccftech's Most Anticipated Indies of 2026 list heading into this year, though we've only been able to go hands-on with Replaced since it had a Steam Next Fest demo released as part of the year's first Next Fest. Silver Pines skipped the first Next Fest of the year, but as we keep an eye on its release date, we'll also look for it when the second Next Fest of the year comes around in June 2026.
