Applications and games are slowly creeping up in storage requirements, and in no time, you can go from an empty drive to one where you need to pick and choose which programs to remove and which ones to keep. Portable SSDs have pretty much solved this problem, but these too, come at a cost, and if you value time over everything else, then you require a solid state drive that has high data transfer speeds, which is an attribute supported by the Samsung T9.
Unfortunately, the T9 was not what you would call the most affordable solution when it first launched, but on Amazon, the 2TB version of the drive is $50 cheaper and can be yours for $199.99, with the 4TB variant available for $299.99. Though the 2TB model will serve the majority of customers due to its attractive price, the higher-capacity version provides better value because, for just $100 more, you can get an extra 2TB in a single portable SSD.

The Samsung T9 has a rugged exterior and can survive drops from a height of 3 meters. It also comes with a unique security feature that includes password protection, assuming you need to offload files that are of a sensitive nature. As for performance, the T9 outshines the competition in its price range with data transfer speeds of 2000MB/s. In comparison, the previous-generation Samsung T7 Shield tops out at $1,050MB/s and is listed for $279.99 on Amazon.

Samsung has also incorporated a new cooling solution to the T9 called ‘Dynamic Thermal Guard,’ which helps the SSD stay under the temperature threshold during read or write operations, keeping the data transfer performance as high as it possibly can. With these improvements, it is difficult not to ignore this portable SSD, though you should hurry because NAND flash prices are slowly increasing globally, and there is no telling when this model will go out of budget for many.
