Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is now finally being specced.

We are just around three weeks away from the official launch of Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold, if reports about a December 05 debut pan out. The confirmed specs of the novel, triple-folding device are now finally beginning to populate the proverbial airwaves.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold to offer 2600 nits of peak brightness, and sport a 5,437mAh battery, along with a 200MP main camera

Samsung opted for a limited unveiling of the Galaxy Z TriFold at the "K-Tech Showcase" on October 28 in the South Korean city of Gyeongju, allowing the tantalizing, triple-folding device to be viewed from behind a glass panel. Nonetheless, many of the device's granular specifications remained shrouded in mystery until now.

Now, the famous tipster Evan Blas has taken a stab at the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold's specs, revealing:

  1. A peak brightness of 2,600 nits for the 6.5-inch outer display.
  2. A peak brightness of 1,600 nits for the 10-inch inner display.
  3. The thickness of the panels varies, ranging from 3.9mm to 4.2mm.
  4. A 200MP main camera.
  5. A rated battery capacity of 5,437mAh, which is below the 5,600mAh capacity previously reported by the South Korean publication Chosun Biz.
  6. Powered by a Snapdragon SoC, most likely the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip.

As per a recent report by the South Korean publication, The Elec, Samsung is apparently playing it safe with the launch cadence of the Galaxy Z TriFold, having only manufactured components that are sufficient for an initial production volume of just 20,000 to 30,000 units.

Even so, some recent estimates suggest that Samsung might be able to sell around 120,000 units of the Galaxy Z TriFold in the first 12 months, netting around $240 million in the process, based on a tentative retail price of $2,000.

Samsung has also boosted its sales target for the Fold 8 and the Flip 8 by around 10 percent relative to their predecessors, while also aiming to reduce the Flip 8's thickness and weight by over 10 percent, which equates to a thickness of ~12mm (when folded) and a weight of around 169 grams for the new device.

Galaxy Z TriFold specs

Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold features a triple-folding form factor, replete with two hinges, where one has a tighter radius, allowing the inward folding displays to layer on top of each other, thus protecting the more sensitive inner display from the elements. This contrasts with the approach that Huawei used for its Mate XT, which combines an inward-folding display with the one that folds outwards. The thickness of the device's panels varies, ranging from 3.9mm to 4.2mm.

Additionally, the Galaxy Z TriFold features a 10-inch OLED inner display (vs. the 8-inch one on the Galaxy Fold 7) and a 6.5-inch outer one, relatively thick bezels, a triple camera setup at the back - consisting of a 200-megapixel primary camera with 100x zoom capabilities, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom - three batteries, possibly silicon-carbon ones, with a combined capacity of either 5,437mAh or 5,600mAh, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, all encased within a titanium shell.
