The newest version for the RTX 5090 for the Chinese market is a cut-down variant of the RTX 5090 D and therefore, will also sell at a lower price.

GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 is Expected to Sell for 14,000 Yuan Compared to the MSRP of the RTX 5090 D, Which was Launched at 20,000 Yuan

The GeForce RTX 5090 D variant might have been discontinued from the Chinese market but there is still some inventory left to sell. NVIDIA's board partners are selling the leftover stock of the RTX 5090 D, which we also saw surfacing on international retailers recently. The GPU was already a cut-down variant of the GeForce RTX 5090 when it came to the AI performance, but most specifications, including CUDA cores, VRAM, bandwidth etc., were retained.

Since the new US export policies restrict NVIDIA from selling the RTX 5090 D without a cut-down memory configuration, NVIDIA is going to launch the nerfed RTX 5090 D V2 very soon. We have reported about the new card multiple times and also about its specifications, which will have 24 GB GDDR7 VRAM with a 384-bit bus compared to 32 GB with a 512-bit bus on the RTX 5090/D.

As far as the pricing goes, according to a report from Chiphell, the RTX 5090 D V2 will cost 14,000 Yuan (nearly US$1950), which is roughly a 30% reduction in the MSRP of the RTX 5090 D. The RTX 5090 D was launched at 20,000 Yuan (nearly US$2800) and since the new GPU is significantly nerfed in memory specifications, NVIDIA is reportedly going to charge less, which shouldn't be surprising. The RTX 5090 D V2 will already be nerfed in AI capabilities similar to the RTX 5090 D, and while we don't know if they carry similar AI capabilities, one should expect at least a 1000 AI TOPs reduction in comparison with the RTX 5090.

For gaming, 24 GB GDDR7 memory capacity will be more than sufficient, but the RTX 5090 D V2 will be a big downgrade in AI operations compared to the RTX 5090/D. This is why the RTX 5090 is far more popular any the D variant in China, being sold on custom PCBs to enterprises even though the RTX 5090 is officially banned. The new GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 will be launching in the first week of August but is only expect on the shelves a week later.

Till then, the GeForce RTX 5090 D variant will continue to sell due to leftover inventory, and most AIBs don't have a lot of these cards. Therefore, these will be sold out quickly and may not be available when the RTX 5090 D V2 launches.
