The China-exclusive GeForce RTX 5090 variant will be launched in the first week of August, with sales commencing a week later.

GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 With 24 GB Memory to be Unveiled a Week Before the Official Launch

NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 5090 variant for the Chinese market is about to hit the shelves next month. We recently reported that the GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 will be launching on 12th August in China but as per a new report, NVIDIA will be unveiling the GPU a week before the retail launch. As reported on Board Channels, the RTX 5090 D V2 will be unveiled on 5th August, and the GPU will be officially sold a week later.

It's likely for adequate preparation for the launch since the high demand could cause immediate inventory depletion. We know from the official RTX 5090 launch that NVIDIA wasn't able to fulfill the demand, but since this launch is exclusive to China, NVIDIA shouldn't face the same problem, particularly when the RTX 50 series GPUs are already enjoying much better availability than before.

The new GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 will be different from the RTX 5090 D, which was almost identical to the RTX 5090 except that it was significantly restricted in AI capabilities. The original RTX 5090 D was recently discontinued due to the new US export policy, and therefore, NVIDIA has come up with a brand new variant, which will have lower VRAM capacity. Most specs will be untouched, but the RTX 5090 D V2 will now have 24 GB GDDR7 memory instead of 32 GB GDDR7.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 will use a GB202-240 GPU die and will feature 21,760 CUDA Cores. The graphics card will have a smaller memory bus width of 384-bit compared to 512-bit on the RTX 5090 D, and this will reduce the overall memory bandwidth to just 1.34 TB/s compared to 1.79 TB/s on the RTX 5090 D. This goes in line with US export restrictions, which don't allow NVIDIA to exceed 1.4 TB/s of memory bandwidth.

Now, since the original RTX 5090 D has been discontinued in China, the leftover stock can be seen selling around the globe. We saw the GALAX RTX 5090 D HOF OC LAB selling for $5,500 on eBay and such similar listings can be seen on various retailers in different parts of the world.
