Ridge Racer 8 Switch Exclusive Reportedly in Development by Bandai Namco Alongside First-Person Shooter Adventure Title – Rumor
Ridge Racer 8 Switch is allegedly being developed by Bandai Namco alongside a first-person shooter adventure title.
At least, that’s what the Linkedin profile of Shawn Pitman, lead designer at Bandai Namco Singapore, implies. Pitman, who has worked as game designer at studios such as Sony, Midway Games, and LucasArts, mentions that he’s currently working on an unannounced shooter/adventure IP exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
Following the recent Metroid Prime 4 announcement and reports about Bandai Namco working with Nintendo on this new Metroid installment, many are now speculating that this is “unannounced” IP that Pitman is working on. Interesting note however is that Nintendo did already officially announce the new Metroid.
Metroid Prime 4 (Working Title) returns to the first-person adventure roots of the original Metroid Prime game and introduces a new storyline that ties together the events of the Metroid Prime universe and takes the storyline in new directions.
The Project is being led by series producer Kensuke Tanaba and a talented new development team. Together, they are hard at work bringing the action, isolation, and exploration of the Metroid Prime universe to life on Nintendo Switch.
Perhaps even more interesting is the mention of Ridge Racer 8 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. The original Ridge Racer from 1994 was a launch title for the first PlayStation. Sequels were later released on other platforms as well, although Ridge Racer 7 was released as a PS3 launch title back in 2006.
As with all rumors, take the information above with a grain of salt for now. As always, we will keep you updated.
