Resident Evil Requiem is getting new content this May as well as a story expansion down the line

Resident Evil Requiem is getting additional content soon, including an unspecified surprise coming in May that sounds a lot like the engaging Mercenaries mode features in past entries in the series, as confirmed in a new video message by director Koshi Nakanishi. But that is not all: the rumored story expansion has also been confirmed to be in the works.

In today's video message, Nakanishi-san commented on the current state of the game while thanking players for their support. "We released an update the other day to fix a variety of issues, and we will continue to address any other bugs and performance issues," Nakanishi-san said. "But that's not all. We are also planning to add more content. First, the much-awaited photo mode. On top of that, there's another surprise coming around May. We're planning to add a mini game. We hope to continue providing support on Resident Evil Requiem to live up to its positive reception."

"We are planning to make extra story content," the Resident Evil Requiem director added at the end of the video message. "In this story, we will delve deeper into the world of Requiem. We're hard at work on it now. It will take some time, so we ask for your patience and hope you'll look forward to it."

While Resident Evil Requiem is a great experience with solid replay value, it does not feature anything other than the main campaign in terms of play modes, so the addition of any other play mode, or mini-game as Nakanishi-san put it, will be rather welcome.

A Mercenaries Mode would work great in the game, as Leon's combat mechanics sport a lot of depth and are among the best we have seen in the series since the Resident Evil 4 remake. At the same time, it would be very interesting to see how Grace would fare in such an intense combat-focused play mode with her limited combat options.

Considering how well crafted the main campaign is, there is little doubt that the development team will be able to deliver an engaging side-experience that all fans of the game would surely enjoy and how it will continue the story. Resident Evil Requiem poses the player with a critical question that determines the ending, but there's little doubt about which ending will be used for the story's continuation.
