PS4 is the Console to Get For Exclusive Games, Says Michael Pachter
Wedbush Securities analyst, Michael Pachter, shared his opinion that gamers should buy a PS4, if they want exclusive titles, while opting for an Xbox One if they want non-exclusive games.
Speaking with GamingBolt, Pachter praised PS4’s exclusive titles for 2015, but acknowledges that Microsoft has plenty of surprises coming at E3. Although the Uncharted 4 delay certainly will have a huge effect on the impact on the PlayStation 4’s exclusive line-up. Sony are probably having some exciting announcements and reveals of their own at E3. With a Ratchet & Clank PS4 game releasing at the same time as the feature film, and a potential God of War PS4 reveal, it could prove that Sony could have plenty to attract more gamers.
In Michael Pachter’s, words, PS4 is the platform to get for exclusives,
“Yeah, I got schooled on Twitter by Phil Spencer because I said that I thought Sony’s lineup was really impressive, and I’m not sure that they’re all coming out this year, but they announced six of them at that PlayStation Experience back in December and I’m pretty sure four of them are coming out this year. But they announced a bunch of big titles, and some of them we already knew about, like The Order. But Phil shot back on Twitter saying I don’t know the Microsoft lineup, and theirs is quite comparable and quite competitive, so I have a feeling we’re going to get some announcements, perhaps as early as GDC, because Phil is doing the keynote at GDC, so I think that would be a good time for him to announce something. And I’m positive that by E3, they’ll announce something.
That’s what’s kind of cool about being a gamer right now is that, these guys want your business so badly that they’re going to keep coming up with cool stuff. Right now, I think you’re better off buying a PS4 if you care about these exclusive titles. If you care about the non-exclusive titles, you’re better off buying an Xbox One because it’s cheaper.”
Microsoft will have plenty of exclusive content as well, and Pachter is likely a bit off. A new title announcement or two are coming from Rare, and it appears that we might be having a return of some of gaming’s most beloved franchises, Battletoads and Banjo Kazooie. With promises of Halo 5: Guardians being super innovative and amazing, Microsoft, should be having a great year as well. E3 will certainly prove quite exciting for both Sony and Microsoft, with some incredibly exciting announcements coming from both companies, as well as Nintendo, which have been absent from the event for a couple of years.
Another aspect that could offer some advantage to Microsoft’s console is the DX12 cross-platform development between Windows 10 and Xbox One. Despite the benefits that the new API will bring to development on the console, game makers will benefit greatly from DX12’s developing environment, making cross-platform ports between PC and Xbox One seamless.
