An early version of the Pixel Fold 2 might have appeared in a blurry image leak, showing various design changes coming to Google’s first-generation Pixel Fold. Though it is not confirmed if the company will stick to the same design when the newer version is officially released, we do get a glimpse of how the Pixel Fold 2 will look compared to its predecessor.
New information states that the Pixel Fold 2 is in its early development stages, hinting at possible design changes in the future
Shortly after reporting on the hardware specification upgrades reportedly arriving to the Pixel Fold 2, we came across an alleged image of the upcoming handset that was sent to Android Authority. Most of the image’s details are missing, with several areas heavily censored, and though the exact dimensions have not been shared, a side-by-side comparison reveals that the Pixel Fold 2 will sport a narrower cover display, assuming this design goes into mass production.
If you look at the rear camera array, it too, sports a different arrangement than what is present on the Pixel Fold. The report speculates that the alleged Pixel Fold 2 shown in the latest image is not as wide as its predecessor because a ton of Android applications are not optimized for this form factor. Google had to resort to various workarounds for the apps to play nicely with the Pixel Fold, and not all of them behaved properly.

With the Pixel Fold 2, apps could behave more naturally, negating the need for additional software tweaks, which would not only take up more valuable time for Google but also expend the resources necessary to refine the upcoming foldable flagship further. Fortunately, since the device is in its early development stages or the beginning of the Engineering Validation Stage (EVT), a boatload of cosmetic changes could be incorporated to make the Pixel Fold 2 appear drastically different when it is mass produced later in the year.
We should expect Google to improve the design, making it appear more futuristic so that cosmetically, the Pixel Fold 2 appears as a worthy Galaxy Z Fold 6 competitor. For now, this is all the information we have for our readers, but we will always provide routine updates occasionally.
