The first look at the Onimusha: Way of the Sword gameplay has finally arrived with a new trailer shown during the latest State of Play presentation.

The trailer, which can be watched below, introduces the new main character, the renowned Miyamoto Musashi, as he fights his way through some zombie samurai using his sword and taking advantage of the environment. The grounded combat system, in particular, feels like a welcome change over the vast majority of modern action games featuring over-the-top elements and looks markedly Onimusha. Hopefully, during the course of the adventure, we will be able to employ the Niten Ichi-ryū combat style that Musashi created and perfected during his life that was absent from this initial gameplay showcase.

You can check out Jubei Yaguy in action with higher resolution graphics and other visual improvements below.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword launches sometime in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
