There is no denying that One UI 6.1 is a pretty big deal, and in the coming days, we are going to get more and more information on the update. We recently had a massive leak talking about a lot of the features coming to the update, and one of the highlights was a more advanced battery protection setting. It now appears that the feature already exists in the older software version, but as expected, it is not functional.

Samsung really wants to protect your battery with new and improved battery management in One UI 6.1

But why would Samsung put the feature in One UI 6 when it is already going to debut in the One UI 6.1? Well, the simplest answer to that is that Samsung is looking to find a way to enable it on older devices that will not be updated to the latest software. The other answer is that it is just a placeholder since the upcoming software update will not bring many cosmetic changes.

As you can see in the screenshot above, this feature can be found on any device running the latest version of One UI. However, it does not work at the time of writing, which makes sense because it is made for the One UI 6.1, and that update is still not out as it is supposed to be released alongside the Galaxy S24 series, which will debut next month.

Still, if you have a Samsung Galaxy device running One UI 6, you can enable this feature by downloading Activity Launcher and searching for batterypro. From that point, you just have to open the activity and enable it. As mentioned before, this feature is meant for One UI 6.1 and will not work on older devices.

Now, the good news is that One UI 6.1 will be coming out next month, and based on the last leak, we know that the update is going to be a massive one with a lot of AI-powered features that will make your overall experience a lot better. As far as the availability is concerned, that is something we are still not sure about because, for all we know, Samsung could limit the update to modern devices and add some features to older devices without rolling out the entire update.
