Apple OLED iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air Launch

Apple failed to introduce new iPad upgrades last year, which resulted in a 10 percent slump in overall revenue from the category. The company is expected to release upgrades throughout this year, ranging from OLED iPad Pro models to the iPad mini 7. While the entry-level iPad and iPad mini upgrade are scheduled for the second half of this year, Apple plans to launch the OLED iPad Pro and iPad Air 6 models in the Spring. A new report from Bloomberg details the launch of the iPad Pro and iPad Air models.

Apple will launch the OLED iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Air models in March or April

In his latest Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg states that Apple could launch the OLED iPad Pro and new iPad Air models as soon as March or April. The analyst's speculative time frame matches prior Spring launch reports. Gurman also claims that after the launch of the new iPad models, the company will switch its focus to WWDC 2024, which is expected in June.

The iPad Pro's design has remained unchanged for over five years, and it is high time the company brings something new. We have previously reported multiple times that Apple is planning to redesign the iPad Pro with a glass back. Additionally, the screen sizes would be bigger, which could result from slimmer bezels. While no concrete details are available, we suspect the redesign will differentiate the 'Pro' models from the 'Air' lineup.

As for what you should expect, we expect both iPad Pro models to feature an OLED display, which will be one of the unique selling points for the device. Moreover, both 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models are expected to receive the upgraded display technology, thereby ending the discrimination in the lineup. In addition, the tablets will be powered by the company's new M3 chip for enhanced computational and graphical performance. As mentioned, the iPad Pro models could also feature a glass back, making room for MagSafe wireless charging on the iPad.

As for the iPad Air 6, we have previously reported that the company plans to introduce a bigger 12.9-inch variant of the iPad Air. The design will remain the same as the current model but with a slightly revamped camera module. We have recently shared CAD renders of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and the camera module resembles the iPhone X or iPhone XS. The company will also equip both models of the iPad Air with an M2 chip, an upgrade over the existing M1 chip.

The report mentions that the OLED iPad Pro and iPad Air 6 models will be released alongside each other in March or April. Apple is also scheduled to launch the Vision Pro headset on February 2. Besides this, the iPad mini 7 and the entry-level iPad models are expected to be released by the end of this year, potentially after the launch of the iPhone 16 lineup.
