Octopath Traveler 0, a new entry in the HD-2D JRPG series by Square Enix, has been revealed today with a December release date.

The new entry in the series, which was announced today with a new trailer shown during the July 2025 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, will see players embark on a new journey in the realm of Osterra to experience a story of restoration and retribution. Retaining its predecessor's unique visuals, Octopath Traveler 0 will feature a mix of returning core features, like Path Actions to interact with other characters and the Break and Boost battle system, and some brand new ones, including town restoration mechanics. For the first time in the series, players will also get to experience the new adventure through the eyes of a customized protagonist.

Though having only been announced, Octopath Traveler 0 won't take too long to release, as it will launch on December 4 worldwide. As of now, only Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 releases have been confirmed, but it's likely the game will debut on other formats on the same day, as Octopath Traveler 2 launched on PC and PlayStation consoles as well as on Nintendo Switch back in 2023.
