According to a report in the Taiwanese press, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is expected to announce his firm's global headquarters in Taiwan next week. The announcement will come as part of Huang's visit to Taiwan for the Computex 2025 annual technology conference, which will be held in Taipei next week. Industry insiders suggest that NVIDIA has been scouting the location of its Taiwanese headquarters for months, and Huang's potential announcement will underscore the close relationship between his firm and Taiwan's TSMC.
NVIDIA's Overseas Headquarters Can Be Located In Taipei, Say Insiders
While it's certain that NVIDIA's global headquarters will be located in Taipei, Taiwan, the precise location is unclear and will likely be announced by Huang. According to insiders, five locations are currently being considered by NVIDIA and have been offered by the Taipei government. All the sites are more than three hectares in area, with the insiders adding that NVIDIA favors Taipei because of the universities in the area and efficient transportation networks.
The five sites that NVIDIA is considering include the Taipei City Flower Park, a marshaling yard for Taiwan Railway, land belonging to the Taiwanese military close to the Taipei Songshan Airport, land close to the Mitsui park in Taipei and land part of a renewal project for Taiwan's electricity utility Taipower.
NVIDIA's decision to choose Taiwan as the location for its overseas headquarters is unsurprising given the close relationship between the firm and Taiwan's TSMC. TSMC's chip manufacturing technologies are at the heart of NVIDIA's business model since the firm produces NVIDIA's advanced AI GPUs, which are market leaders worldwide.

The reports suggest that within these locations, the flower park is one of the top contenders to be announced due to the surrounding scenery and transportation facilities. However, while the site is also located close to the airport, there are worries about a nearby historical site leading to artifacts present in the area which could stop construction if discovered during excavation.
Among all these locations, the flower park is also the one with the fewest potential coordination conflicts. The railway yard and the Taipower restoration project both have multiple corporations or other entities with control of the land. For instance, the railway yard is being promoted by a consortium of firms formed specifically for this purpose, while Taipower land's renewal efforts are subject to tender and will require NVIDIA to work with a potential bid winner.
On the other hand, the site close to the airport belongs to the Taiwanese military. Since the Taipei government is NVIDIA's primary facilitator for the headquarters, the government must first acquire the land from the military. This process is expected to be completed by the end of the year while NVIDIA prefers to start construction immediately, according to the sources.
Finally, NVIDIA also preferred the Mitsui park, but since it is not connected to a major interchange, commuting to the site can be difficult for its employees.
