DirectX 12 3DMark Time Spy and gaming benchmarks for Nvidia's GTX 1060 have been leaked and more custom cards pictured. As the July 19th launch date draws nearer more information about the GTX 1060 has come to light. And today's leak is definitely one of the biggest yet as it gives us a glimpse of the card's DirectX 12 performance and how it stacks up against the RX 480 competition from AMD. So without any further delay let's get into the juicy bits!
Nvidia GTX 1060 Vs AMD RX 480 DirectX 12 Benchmarks
The GTX 1060 was benchmarked against the RX 480 in the just released 3DMark Time Spy DirectX 12 test with asynchronous compute turned on and off. The results are courtesy of PCEVA -- via VCZ -- and include scores achieved with a ten core i7 6950X CPU and a quad core i7 6700K CPU.
There's no mention of which particular GTX 1060 model was used here and whether a Founder's Edition or a custom model was tested. Regardless, the card manages to achieve a higher score compared to the RX 480. Although it does not show gains as significant as the RX 480 with async compute enabled. An area where AMD's GCN architecture still commands the lead. Overall however, the GTX 1060 still manages to deliver a higher score.
Nvidia GTX 1060 Gaming Benchmarks At 4K, 1440p & 1080p
Moving on to gaming performance, a number of promotional performance charts of the GTX 1060 have made their way to the web. The benchmarks include five games : Hitman, Rise of the Tomb Raider 3, Just Cause 3, Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 and DOOM.
As with any performance figures touted in marketing material we'd recommend that you take this with a grain of salt. It's only three days from now until third party gaming benchmarks are made available. These benchmarks should help you get a general idea of where the GTX 1060 stands, but don't read too much into them.
More Custom GTX 1060 Graphics Cards!
We have to cards from Colorful, the iGame U TOP and the iGame X TOP. Both cards feature a triple fan, open air design and decent factory overclocks right out of the box. Both cards also feature the same custom designed PCB with 5+2 power phases and two t-pin PCIe power connectors. The X TOP comes with a higher factory overclock right out of the box as well as different heatsink shroud. Besides that the cards are pretty much identical.

We also two GTX 1060 Gainward cards courtesy of VCZ. The Phoenix and the Amer's Spirit. Both cards feature a dual fan, open air cooling design and a single 6-pin power connector. The Gainward GTX 1060 Phenoix has a slightly larger, three slot heatsink and two, 15 blade fans. The Ganward GTX 1060 Amer's Spirit features a more standard dual slot heatsink with two 9 blade fans.
In terms of aesthetics the Gainward GTX 1060 Pheonix features a more aggressive red, black and gold color scheme, a backplate as well as an illuminated "Gainward" emblem. While the more budget oriented Amer's Spirit features a plain black plastic shroud.
