When German developer ION LANDS released Cloudpunk in 2020, it probably wasn't betting on being one of the best cyberpunk-themed games that year. But it was, especially with the backdrop of Cyberpunk 2077 making a name for itself due to its abysmal launch. Now, six years later, Cyberpunk 2077 is much improved, and ION LANDS is working on a return to its fictional city of Nivalis with a game that is now officially titled Nivalis Nights, and it finally has an official release date.
A date that, for better and for worse, puts it right at the tail-end of one of the busiest months left on the video game industry calendar for 2026. ION LANDS and publisher 505 Games have revealed that Nivalis Nights will launch on September 29, 2026, and it'll be available on PC through Steam, with an Epic Games Store launch coming later. No word on consoles, at least for now.
Nivalis Nights was initially revealed as simply 'Nivalis' back in 2021, and in 2023 it was set to arrive by 2024. That, clearly, didn't happen, and it was initially pushed back into 2025, before ultimately falling into a 2026 release.
"As an independent studio, developing this game meant overcoming hurdles we've never faced before," said Marko Dieckmann, creative director at ION LANDS, in a press release, "and we are incredibly grateful to our community for their patience over the last five years."
"Today, we are thrilled to finally lock in our official release date and cannot wait for players to dive in, meet Ava, and experience the city's quirky charm." While Cloudpunk had you delivering packages across Nivalis and uncovering a deeper mystery, you'll look towards a smoother pace of life in Nivalis Nights, as the game is described as a 'cyberpunk slice-of-life-sim.'
You explore the city, either on your own two feet or in your boat. You'll decorate and create your own home, find food, establish yourself in the community, and of course meet your neighbours and the people of Nivalis and hear all of their stories.
"We have been excited about this project for a long time," added Neil Ralley, president of 505 Games. "Watching it come to life has been an extraordinary and rewarding experience. With the release date not far away, we can't wait to finally welcome players to the city of Nivalis and discover its secrets."
