A new look at Housemarque's Saros has arrived today

Straight from its reveal, Housemarque's Saros seemed like the perfect evolution of the engaging formula introduced in Returnal. Its first proper gameplay reveal earlier this year only confirmed this feeling, which has been further reinforced by a new look at the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive.

The new look at the game was provided today by a fresh trailer shown during today's The Game Awards, showing some new story sequences as well as Arjun’s Soltari putting his advanced combat suit to use against enemies unleashing a veritable bullet hell in true Housemarque fashion.

Unfortunately, it's not all good news today. Saros has unfortunately been delayed to April 30, around one month after its original March 20 release date.

Besides featuring an evolution of the gameplay seen in Returnal, Saros will feature, as highlighted by today's trailer, expanded storytelling with "grounded voice-over, stunning cinematics, haunting audio logs, and conversations with our ensemble cast of NPCs," detailed by Gregory Louden, creative director at Housemarque earlier this year. This expanded narrative is likely among the features that wouldn't have been possible had the studio remained independent.

Saros launches exclusively on PlayStaton 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro on April 30. A PC version of the game has yet to be officially announced, but it is expected, as the aforementioned Returnal eventually made its way to Steam and the Epic Games Store sometime after its PS5 debut.
