The Airpods Max has been part of Apple's product lineup since 2020. Although the company does not regularly update the model, the rumor mill has been churning about the possibility of the new model coming out in 2024 packed up with the USB-C port. Similarly, Apple TV has not gotten any frequent updates, and the last version which is the third-generation Apple TV 4K made its way in 2022; the expectations have been for the refreshed model to come out by 2024. Now, a recent report has put a rest to the speculations by suggesting that both the latest versions might not debut at Apple's upcoming event.
Apple TV and the New AirPods Max, contrary to expectations, may not be announced on September 9th
Some Apple products have not had a new version rolled out in a while because the company does not regularly update these devices. Since both the Apple TV and the Airpods Max have not seen a refreshed model for quite some time, users and the tech community have been waiting for a new version to be rolled out.
So far, speculation has been that both products would be updated and the new version would be announced at Apple's "It's Glowtime" event on September 9th. Much to users' dismay, this might not be the case, as a new report reveals the announcement will not be made at this event.
As Mark Gurman highlighted in a Bloomberg report today, the new versions of the Apple TV and the Airpods Max would not make their way to Apple's upcoming event. In the report, Gurman laid out his expectations from the event and what it could entail. While doing so, he suggested that the company is still developing the new AirPods Max and adding new color options for it. It is also said that we will be working on adding a USB-C port in place of the current Lightning port, which seems to be the current trend in the industry.
Gurman further mentioned how even though a product refresh is due, it is most unlikely to happen soon, given the existing inventory of the current AirPods Max models and how it might take some time to reduce it. Similarly, Apple TV's updated model has been in the works for a while, but there seems to be no rush on Apple's end to bring the new version forward, given its current model's stock and lack of update on when the release might happen.
So, users who have been waiting to upgrade their Apple TV or even get a new version of the AirPods Max might have to wait a while.
