MSI has released its latest AGESA 1.2.0.3e BIOS for AM5 800-series motherboards, which adds support for new AMD Ryzen CPUs.
New AMD Ryzen CPU & 256 GB DDR5 Memory Support Added To MSI's 800-Series Motherboards In Latest AGESA 1.2.0.3e BIOS Update
It's been a while since we have seen some new AGESA updates roll out. A few motherboard makers recently released AGESA 1.2.0.3 Patch D firmware for their respective motherboards, but MSI is once again releasing a newer version for its motherboards in the form of the AGESA 1.2.0.3e BIOS release.
MSI is rolling out new AGESA 1.2.0.3e BIOS for X870/B850 mobos. New BIOS comes with optimization for Hynix/Micron/Samung-chip 256GB (64GB x4) memory, and future CPU support.

The AMD AGESA 1.2.0.3e BIOS update seems to add some new support on the CPU and memory side. The first major update is that with the BIOS, MSI's 800-series motherboards, mainly the X870 and B850 series, will be able to support 256 GB capacities in 4x64GB configurations from all DRAM manufacturers such as Hynix, Micron, and Samsung. The motherboards will also be fine-tuned with optimized 2DPC 1R compatibility, and the overclock of Samsung's 4Gx8 chip will be further refined.
So this means that overclockers and enthusiasts can expect better memory compatibility and even better overclocking support running the latest DDR5 DRAM modules from a wide array of memory makers. This is great news and brings AM5's DDR5 capabilities a step closer to Intel's Core Ultra 2 platform, which does have an edge with CUDIMM support.
The biggest information revealed in the new BIOS release is that MSI confirms that the BIOS will be featuring support for a future AMD Ryzen CPU. Now, it is not confirmed which CPU this might be referring to, but it is likely to be a Zen 5 part, considering that there have been hints at new Zen 5 "Ryzen" releases recently. It could be a standard Ryzen offering or an APU offering such as the Ryzen 9000G "Strix Desktop". This is just our speculation at the moment, but it looks like AMD is cooking something up for the desktop market, and we can't wait to see what they have in the works.
