The newly released (free) Mafia III update adds car racing, car customization and more to the open world game set in 1968.

There will be twelve car races for players to win throughout New Bordeaux, with six circuit lap races and six point-to-point ones. The races become available after the very first sit-down with Lincoln's three lieutenants (Cassandra, Thomas Burke, and Vito Scaletta).

There will be specific race markers on the open world map. Winning races will unlock car customizations and eventually also an additional car, the Griffin Marauder. Speaking of car customization, you'll have to head to one of the nine Big Rick garages; once there, players may select 50 unique customizations when it comes to Decals, Exhausts, Spoilers, Superchargers and Wheels.

Developer Hangar 13 also noted that another Mafia III update due early next year will add more car customizations and even the ability to further boost your car's performance.

Finally, today's Mafia III update introduces three new outfits, one of which is a three-piece suit can only be scored by linking Mafia III with your My2K account. If you do that, you'll also get a custom revolver called 'Il Duca'.

Mafia III sold extremely well so far despite fairly mixed reviews. It became 2K's fastest selling game ever with a week one sell-in of over 4.5 million units. Have you enjoyed the game so far? Let us know in the comments.
