Apple’s officially released macOS Sequoia 15.2 to the public, with the new update bringing some welcome changes but also providing some leaks related to the company’s future Mac launches, or more specifically, the M4 MacBook Air lineup. According to the latest software release, Apple is planning to introduce two refreshes of its ultra-portable notebooks, hinting that apart from a chipset upgrade, we should expect no other major changes.

Latest macOS Sequoia 15.2 references a 13-inch and 15-inch version, hinting that Apple will not bring a design change to the new M4 MacBook Air series

The new information reported by MacRumors talks about a software file for ‘Mac16,12’ and ‘Mac16,13,’ which are likely the new M4 MacBook Air models. Given that the technology giant barely introduced an aesthetics makeover for the M4 MacBook Pro family, we should expect the same treatment for the newer models next year. The report also references the ‘‌MacBook Air‌ (13-inch, M4, 2025)’ and the ‘‌MacBook Air‌ (15-inch, M4, 2025),’ indicating that the display sizes will also remain unchanged from the previous models sporting the company’s M3 SoC.

To be fair, Apple never really needed to improve the design of its portable Macs as much as it needed to focus on giving more value to customers who were spending top dollar to become the proud owners of these machines. With the M4 MacBook Pro, the company addressed this issue by making 16GB unified RAM and 512GB storage the base configuration, making it a significant improvement from the 8GB RAM count, which limited users on what they could carry out on these models. Apple also introduced a competitive pricing structure, though it still charges a premium on RAM and storage upgrades.

However, with the current-generation 13-inch M3 MacBook Air with 16GB unified RAM and 512GB of storage going for just $1,099 on Amazon after a routine discount, nailing the price of the M4 version might be challenging, but nothing too impossible. Assuming we see a similar configuration, but the price starts from $1,199, the M4 MacBook Air can become one of the best-selling models from the California-based giant’s lineup. Of course, we are just speculating at this point, so we will wait for more updates and relay more information to our readers in the future, so stay tuned.
