[Update] As noted by NEOGAF user Sn4ke_911, Santaolalla said that he doesn’t know the exact release date of the the game, and the 2019 release frame might have been a mere joke on his behalf. He did state that he’s been working on the game for about one year at this point, and that projects like that require at least 2 years of work.

[Original story] Composer Gustavo Santaolalla has hinted at a The Last of us part II 2019 release date for PlayStation 4 during a recent interview.

Santaolalla, who also composed the score for the original The Last of Us, said as much during an interview with Argentinian radio station Vorterix. Picked up by  RobinGaming, you can watch the video that they made on the matter below:

In the interview, the composer mentions that work on the Last of Us Part II is aimed to be finished by 2019, though no actual release frame was provided.

Neither Sony nor Naughty Dog has confirmed the game’s release date at this point. Development on the game began in 2014, but wasn’t officially confirmed by Naughty Dog until 2016. Motion capturing for the title commenced earlier this year.
