iOS 18 was released earlier this month, with a handful of underlying bugs that have been ruining users' experience. While the next big update is slated to arrive in October, it is now being reported that the company is working on an iOS 18.0.1 update for the iPhone, which will fix some or all of the reported issues so far. The update will be available on all compatible iPhone models through the Settings app, but users should note that it will not bring any front-facing additions.
Apple working to release iOS 18.0.1 to fix some or all issues on the iPhone, following iOS 18 update
MacRumors discovered evidence of iOS 18.0.1 in their website's analytics logs, and the publication has accurately predicted the arrival of forthcoming software updates in the past as well. This means that there is a good chance the company will release the update soon for all iPhone models. The update will be minor in scale compared to iOS 18.1, which will introduce Apple Intelligence to the world for the first time.
As for what will be part of the update, it is simple - iOS 18 launched with some bugs, including touchscreen issues, where the device would not register taps and swipes as intended. Other than this, iOS 18 also comes with a bug that crashes the Messages app when a person shares or receives a watch face from another iPhone. Lastly, iPadOS 18 is also bricking some M4 iPad Pro models, rendering them useless. While the company has pulled the update, the issue remains to be resolved.
There is no set date for the release of iOS 18.0.1, but we suspect that the update will arrive next week or the week after. In any case, the update should be here before the company releases iOS 18.1, which is slated to arrive in the second half of October, possibly alongside the announcement of the new M4 Macs and iPad mini 7.
iOS 18.1 is currently available in beta, which includes some Apple Intelligence features for the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 16 lineup. iOS 18.0.1 is an important update that will allow users to resume normal functionality on the iPhone. We have already notified users in the past why they should stick to a stable iOS 17 build until Apple releases a few subsequent updates for iOS 18. Nonetheless, we will inform users when the iOS 18.0.1 update is available to the general public, so be sure to keep an eye out. Do you think Apple will release iOS 18.0.1 next week?
