EA Motive's Iron Man game has found one of its writers. Earlier this week, Canadian comic book author Ryan North announced on Twitter (X) to have joined the writing team for the upcoming game. He also told fans they're not ready for how amazing it's going to be.

Ryan North is known mainly as the creator of the webcomic Dinosaur Comics, but he also worked for Marvel on a number of projects, chiefly The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, which ran for two series and a total of 58 issues.

Announced in September 2022 after a series of rumors, the Iron Man action/adventure game received an update last Friday. EA Motive General Manager Patrick Klaus said the project is still in early pre-production, thus dashing any hopes fans might have had of getting the game before three or four years. On the flip side, he did provide a couple of interesting tidbits.

The first is that Iron Man is being developed with Epic's Unreal Engine 5 technology. This was a bit surprising, given that EA Motive had always used Frostbite for the previous games (Star Wars: Battlefront II's single player, Star Wars: Squadrons, and the Dead Space remake).

The other piece of news is that, just like with the Dead Space remake, Motive has already established a Community Council composed of Iron Man and Marvel fans. The studio is hoping to get valuable feedback early on.

We don't know much else about the game, though job listings suggest that it could be open world and it could feature action and roleplaying game (RPG) elements.

The Iron Man game isn't the only Marvel title in development at Electronic Arts. A single player action game based on Black Panther is in development at Seattle-based developer Cliffhanger Games Studio, founded in 2021 by former Monolith Productions VP Kevin Stephens.
