Apple will reportedly introduce bigger batteries to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max later this year, resulting in increased endurance. However, the exact capacity details are currently in the dark, with various reports and rumors mentioning different figures. The newest details shared by a tipster reveal that the smaller model will receive the biggest upgrade, as its cell is said to sport a 10 percent higher capacity. However, it will still be smaller than what the iPhone 16 Pro Max is rumored to receive.

iPhone 16 Pro Max to feature just a 6 percent capacity upgrade over iPhone 15 Pro Max, claims new rumor

A Weibo user with the handle Setsuna Digital has shared the battery capacities of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. MacRumors was kind enough to provide the percentage increases of the capacities, with the smaller handset sporting a 3,577mAh cell, resulting in a 9.25 percent bump. As for the top-end model, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the rumor claims that the latter will be treated to a 4,676mAh battery, which is 5.74 percent larger than the battery powering the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Considering that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a slightly bigger display at 6.9 inches, we were hoping to see a bigger battery. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo noted previously that the top-end model would have a battery with increased energy density, allowing for increased runtime at the same capacity. Assuming this tiny bit turns out to be true, the 5.74 percent difference might only be minuscule on paper. While customers will be eyeing one of the devices as their daily driver later this year, the battery increase may not be the only upgrade they wait for.

A previous rumor claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max would support 40W wired charging, making it the first time that Apple would introduce fast charging technology to its premium handsets. On top of that, both devices should also support MagSafe wireless charging up to 20W. In short, the improvements in charging and battery technology alone should justify a purchase for potentially thousands, but let us see in the future if there are other perks to pick up one of these.
