Customers reveal that pricing and capable thermal are the top two factors for an iPhone 16 purchase

A few weeks remain until Apple officially announces four new models of its iPhone 16 series, and you can rest assured that there will be a slew of internal and external improvements coming to these devices. The technology giant missed the mark with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max launch last year by failing to incorporate a robust thermal solution, preventing the A17 Pro from performing at the peak of its abilities. Well, Apple should make upgrades to this area this year because, according to a new survey, pricing and an improved thermal design were the top two factors for customers wanting to upgrade to the iPhone 16 lineup.

A faster A18 and A18 Pro was not a major factor to upgrade to any iPhone 16 model, given how incredibly fast the A17 Pro already is

Out of 2,013 respondents, SellCell reports that 30.9 percent of them said that pricing would be the biggest reason to upgrade to the iPhone 16. At number 2, we have a robust cooling solution, with 26.8 percent of participants saying that a purchase would depend on how well heat dissipation works on the upcoming models. Fortunately, Apple is rumored to incorporate a ‘Graphene Thermal Solution’ to its iPhone 16 series, leading to cooler temperatures. Additionally, various leaks and reports have revealed that the company will add a metal cover to the battery for improved heat transfer.

A faster A18 or A18 Pro was not the priority for customers wishing to upgrade to the iPhone 16, as only 21.5 percent of respondents mentioned that a speedy SoC would be reason enough to pick up one of the newer models. In fact, new AI features arriving to the series took priority over a lightning-fast chipset, with 21.9 percent of customers highlighting this as a significant motivator to upgrade. As the majority of you know, Apple Intelligence will only work with devices that have 8GB RAM or a powerful Neural Engine, but seeing as how the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max already check these boxes, owners of these two flagships will likely not see a strong enough reason to upgrade.

Unsurprisingly, new colors were at the bottom of the respondents’ list, with only 13.5 percent of the total people stating that fresh finishes would be a reason enough to upgrade. As for those who are not interested in making the iPhone 16 their daily driver this year, the biggest factor was that they could not afford one.
