Intel's Sapphire Rapids Refresh retail packaging has been pictured for the very first time, validating the Xeon W7-2595X workstation CPU as well.

Intel's Sapphire Rapids Refresh Workstation Lineup Looks To Debut Soon As Retail Boxes Appear Online, Xeon W7-2595X With 26 Cores For Mainstream Platforms

Intel is expected to release a "refresh" lineup of the original Sapphire Rapids workstation CPUs, which will launch under the Xeon W-3500 and Xeon W-2500 naming scheme. The upgraded lineup will come with higher core counts and TDPs. The upcoming SKUs will be targeted as workstation platforms but will also support various overclocking capabilities offered on W790 motherboards to set new records. Hence, there's a lot of optimism around it from consumer and clientele segments.

Hardware leaker @sky_amd has revealed initial images of an Intel Sapphire Rapids Refresh SKU, notably the Xeon W7-2595X workstation CPU.

This is the first instance of retail packaging emergence, and based on the first looks, there aren't many changes apart from the mention of the workstation CPU model itself. Considering that it's a refresh model, this was indeed expected. Apart from this, we recently reported on how Intel's Sapphire Rapids Refresh models have started to see integration from the retail chain, with the likes of Lenovo and Dell releasing specific desktop models around the lineup.

Intel Xeon W-2500 "Sapphire Rapids Refresh" CPU Lineup Leak: Up To 26 Cores, 4.8 GHz Clocks, 250W TDPs 1

In terms of the specifications of Intel's Xeon W7-2595X "Sapphire Rapids Refresh", the processor is the flagship model within the Xeon W-2500 mainstream lineup and comes with 26 cores and 52 threads of configuration, along with 4.8 GHz of boost frequency and 250W TDP. In terms of generational gaps, the Xeon W7-2595X comes with 2 cores higher than the normal Xeon W7-2495X, and the core differences are consistent throughout the lineup, except for a few models.

We are currently unaware of when Intel could launch the new Sapphire Rapids Refresh models. Previously, it was assumed that we might see them at a showcase at SIGGRAPH 2024, but that didn't happen. The next ballpark guess for the release date would be somewhere around IFA 2024 since that is when the firm will launch the next-gen Lunar Lake mobile SoCs, or we might see a "press-release" showcase.
