The first benchmarks of Intel's Core Ultra 7 265KF "Arrow Lake" CPU with 20 cores have been spotted within Geekbench.

Intel's Arrow Lake-S "Core Ultra 200K" Desktop CPUs are launching in October and will include the trio which features Core Ultra 9 285K, Core Ultra 7 265K, and Core Ultra 5 245K. All chips will feature an unlocked design and a base TDP of 125W. These chips will feature support on the LGA 1851 CPU socket utilized by Intel's 800-series motherboard such as the flagship Z890 chipset.

Today, we have our first look at the Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF, the successor to the Core i7-14700K(F). This CPU features a total of 20 cores which are configured in an 8 P-Core and 12 E-Core design. The P-Cores are based on the Lion Cove architecture while the E-Cores are based on the Skymont CPU architecture.

The cache readings might be inaccurate since the chip should technically feature 33 MB of L3 cache (3 MB per P-Core and 3 MB per E-Core cluster) and 36 MB of L2 cache (3 MB per P-Core and 4 MB per E-Core cluster) as detailed here.

In terms of clock speeds, the Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF "Arrow Lake" CPU was running at a base clock of 3.90 GHz and a boost clock of up to 5.5 GHz. Compared to the Core i7-14700K, this is a +500 MHz increase in base clock speed but a -100 MHz reduction in the boost clock speed which isn't much as we are looking at a new process node and new architecture too. The chip boosted anywhere from 5.25 to 5.5 GHz.

Coming to the performance numbers, the Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF "Arrow Lake" CPU scored 2252 points in the single-core and 17,722 points in the multi-core tests at Geekbench 5. These scores are slower than the Intel Core i7-14700K which shows that there's still some tuning left to be made or this platform was not running up to par.

HXL reports that this configuration was running a single-channel (24 GB DDR5) memory setup which could explain the lackluster overall performance.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF "Arrow Lake" CPU did manage to outperform the Core i9-12900K but given that there are a lot of unknowns in this benchmark, we better wait for newer ones that use a more optimized platform and setup.

That said, the Intel Arrow Lake CPUs are expected to offer a decent gain in performance. The Core Ultra 9 285K QS has already showcased some impressive results so we can hope that the final performance of the 265KF should easily surpass the Core i7-14700K. Do expect more information on Arrow Lake in the coming months.
