Install XXAMA1 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on I9260 Galaxy Premier [How to]
Samsung had earlier started pushing out Android 4.1.2 Jellybean official firmware for many devices across the world. This time it’s for the Galaxy Premier I9260 owners in Russia to get the chance.
XXAMA1 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean (i9260XXAMA1) firmware can be updated manually over-the-air or using the official tool KIES in Russia. The owners in other parts of the world can only go via the manual method until it’s officially released in their regions. Also if your device has custom ROM, and you are unable to update your Galaxy Premier then keep reading to learn about the manual way of doing it.
To flash the Galaxy Premier model number I9260 to XXAMA1 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean we are using ODIN to flash the stock 4.1.2 firmware in the device. During the flashing process there is some chance of losing the current data of your device so we always strongly recommend creating back up of your data in some other device before proceeding to rooting.
Create a backup of all important data in your Galaxy device including SMS messages (using SMS Backup & Restore app), Sync contacts (with the Gmail application), Call logs, images, songs, videos, files (copy to internal / external SD card) and APN and MMS settings by pressing Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
This way you can easily recover your data in case you lose any of it. After backing up make sure your device has at least 80% or more battery charged up to avoid any mishaps during the firmware update.
Ensure that USB drivers for Galaxy Premier are properly installed in your computer and also make sure that USB Debugging mode is enabled (check using this path: Menu > Settings > Applications. Navigate and tap on Development).
Note: This update is only for Galaxy Premier model number i9260. Please do not try this with any other Android devices or it may cause your Galaxy phone to brick. To check your device’s model number, please go to Settings > About Phone to make sure you are using the right update for your model number.
