Huawei initially launched its Pura 70 flagship range in China, with four models officially available. However, the Chinese smartphone maker was unsatisfied with sticking to a single market, so it set its sights overseas, starting with Malaysia. Earlier, it was revealed that the Pura 70 series would arrive in the region thanks to an SIRIM certification, and now, there are three models for customers to choose from.

The Pura 70 Pro+ is not available in Malaysia, with pre-orders of the new series starting today

Details of the launch were shared by @faridofanani96, who provided various RAM and storage configurations of the latest models, along with the pricing. The base model with 12GB LPDDR5X memory and 256GB of onboard storage can be pre-ordered for RM3,699, which brings the price to around $775. For some reason, Huawei did not release the Pura 70 Pro+, and we believe this decision was made deliberately since there were already too many handsets from which to choose. By bringing in three devices that occupy a specific category in the flagship segment, consumers will be less confused about which model to make their daily driver.

The ‘middle of the pack’ Pura 70 Pro with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is listed at a price of RM4,899, which is approximately $1,027. Last but certainly not least, the Pura 70 Ultra can be pre-ordered for RM6,599, or $1,384, making it the most expensive member of the lineup and the one with the best hardware configuration. To entice buyers to pick any of these models, Huawei currently offers freebies worth RM2,036, or $427, including a pair of FreeBuds Pro 3 wireless earbuds, along with a RM300 exclusive trade-in or voucher offer.

Given the restrictions placed on Huawei because of the U.S. export control ban, all Pura 70 models run HarmonyOS right off the bat. Details on how users can circumvent the lack of Google apps and if there is a possibility at all to side-load programs from third-party websites are not mentioned. Regardless, with Huawei’s latest announcement, it is clear that the company is not conforming to any trade restrictions, and these roadblocks will only motivate it to overcome difficult odds.
