Huawei kicks of Mate 70 reservations

The Mate 70 series will be Huawei’s direct successor to the Mate 60 lineup that launched last year and was the progenitor for the Chinese firm’s resurrection. It appears that history may repeat itself because the company has opened up reservations for the latest models. At the time of writing, almost 1.8 million entries have been recorded, revealing that customers are heavily invested in upgrading.

Reservations page reveals three Mate 70 models with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage; no information on other hardware or the price

On Vmall, there are three Mate 70 models that can be reserved; the base version, followed by the Mate 70 Pro and the Mate 70 Pro+. Before refreshing the reservations page, we noticed there were 1.782 million entries; after mere minutes, that figure had climbed to more than 1.801 million. According to the timeline mentioned on Vmall, Huawei will stop accepting reservations for the Mate 70 series on November 26, as that is when various smartphone models will be released for the masses.

The base version is listed on the online retailer to feature up to 12GB RAM and 1TB storage, with the Mate 70 Pro offering the same configuration. As for the Mate 70 Pro+, potential buyers can purchase the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage version and get more done on the device. The rear side of Huawei’s flagship smartphones features a massive circular camera bump with four visible sensors, along with the ‘XMAGE’ branding. Unfortunately, those who want to know which chipset Huawei will use in the latest models will be sorely disappointed because those details are still elusive.

However, a previous rumor claimed that Huawei will not use its upcoming Kirin 9100 in the base model due to limited supply and will utilize it in the more capable variants. The Kirin 9100 is said to be mass produced on the improved 6nm lithography, with the CPU cluster sporting a single Cortex-X1 core and the same GPU as the one present in last year’s Kirin 9000S. In short, the chipset will not break any performance records, but as long as it is better than its predecessor, that is all that matters. We should learn more about the Mate 70 series in the coming days, so stay tuned for more updates.
