There are several important materials you'll need to farm for crafting a variety of things key to survival in Subnautica 2, but the first major challenge you have when diving into this new alien ocean is finding silver. It's the material needed to craft your first air tank, which, you can surely imagine, is a key piece of gear you'll need if you want to spend more than 45 seconds underwater before having to swim to the surface to take a breath.

Finding silver is imperative to everything you'll do the deeper you get into the game (and the ocean), so you'll want to grab as much of it as possible and find it quickly once you start getting your sea legs.

As Subnautica 2 is still in early access and the current version of the game only covers the first chapter, there will likely be multiple places where you can find silver in the years to come. But in the meantime, this guide will show you where to go in comparison to where you start the game, from the location of your Lifepod.

Subnautica 2 Silver Location

Even though it's not the first crafting material the game will have you focus on, thankfully, something so important is also relatively easy to find. Starting from your Lifepod, turn your compass directly to the north, and swim until you're about 300m away from your Lifepod.

There, below some Jelly Lei, you'll find a cave that contains a wealth of silver for you to collect and bring back to your base so you can fabricate your first air tank, wiring kits, your Tadpole vehicle, and several key items to aid your survival in these alien waters.

This is just the simplest place to find silver, but it is not the only place of course. You'll also find silver in caves nearby the Old Habitat colony ruins and in the cave next to Chap's habitat when NoA sends you searching for Chap's blackbox.

Also, as previously mentioned, there will likely be several more places to find silver the more the game grows and evolves in its early access period. But for now, turning your compass north and swimming about 300m from your Lifepod is a pretty easy solution for finding one of the game's most important crafting materials.
