Here's how to use Leon's secret firearm finisher in Resident Evil Requiem

While Grace’s gameplay in Resident Evil Requiem is defined by avoiding enemies as much as possible, Leon is meant to take the fight to the enemy. One of the most effective and visually satisfying tools in his arsenal is a secret close-range finisher that can end enemies instantly.

The game doesn't give this mechanic a dedicated tutorial, so many players might trigger it by accident without realizing how to do it consistently. Here is how to master Leon’s firearm finisher to save ammo and look good doing it.

The Mechanics of the Secret Finisher

Unlike the contextual melee prompts like the Melee Attack prompt that appear after a stagger, the firearm finisher is tied directly to your firearm usage when an enemy is low on health.

When an enemy is close to death, Leon gains access to a unique kill animation. To trigger this finisher, you must be at point-blank range and fire your weapon. Instead of a standard shot, Leon will perform a cinematic execution that puts the enemy down for good.

As this finisher triggers when the enemy is near death, it is a great way to save ammo. At times, it is difficult to aim that last shot properly, so using the finisher allows you to finish off enemies quickly without having to worry too much about aiming.

When to Use The Firearm Finisher

Leon's secret firearm finisher doesn't just look cool, it also has real tactical value. Not only is it a great way to save some ammo as we discussed above, but it also provides a brief window of invincibility, which can be life-saving when you are being swarmed by enemies, which happens quite often during Leon's gameplay segments.

Synergy with the Perfect Parry

An effective way to set up a finisher is to combine it with the perfect parry.

  1. Perform a Perfect Parry to stagger the enemy.
  2. If their health is low enough from previous damage, you will be given the chance to perform a melee finisher. However, if your hatchet is about to go blunt and you want to preserve sharpness, you can still perform the firearm finisher, allowing you to take advantage of the opportunity provided by your perfect parry regardless of the state of your hatchet.
