Hell is Us is chalk-full of puzzles. Often, your reward for solving one puzzle is yet another puzzle, and so on, and so on. Such is the case for reaching the Plains of Mist in the story. Before you even get in the door, there's a puzzle to open the door, and once inside, the place is a bit of a maze to navigate, and with its puzzles paired with trap floors, you might be forced to run through it multiple times just trying to solve its layers of traps and puzzles.
But if you want to avoid all of that potential frustration, this guide will show you how to solve the multiple layers of the Plains of Mist puzzle.
How to Solve The Plains of Mist Puzzle in Hell is Us
Opening the door to the Temple of the Fallen

Once you've made it to the Plains of the Mist, you'll first have to open the door to what's called the Temple of the Fallen before going deeper into the rest of the puzzles. To start opening the door, you'll need to insert the Twin-Headed Serpent item that you find in Vyssa Hills. If you've not found that, you won't be able to get into the temple.
Inserting the Twin-Headed Serpent will reveal a dial puzzle, just like the very first puzzle you solve in the very first dungeon. The correct symbols will be littered around the first area, which also has plenty of Hollow creatures scattered around that you'll have to defeat.

You can solve which order they go in by piecing together notes you find from Lady Sophia, but if you want the answer, the correct order of the symbols, from the middle of the dial to the final row:
- Sword
- Diamond
- Sun
- Eye
Once you get into the Temple of the Fallen, head in until you reach a main area where there's a Timeloop in the middle.
Solving the Temple of the Fallen Puzzles

Once you've made it to the point where you have a Timeloop in front of you and two paths on the right and left-hand sides, you'll want to head left and go past the archway. Follow the path until you reach another area with a save point, head left down that path, and then right across a small bridge.

At this point, making your way to the next major puzzle is as simple as following the path. This Temple seems more confusing than it really is, but if you keep going forward, you'll find the next puzzle room.
This puzzle, and the next major one after it, ask you to step on the correct squares in order to open the door in front of you. If you step on the wrong square, when it fully depresses, it'll open up, and you'll fall into a pit of spikes. You'll respawn back to the room pictured above with the save point, and have to walk all the way back.

The first puzzle will ask you to step on three squares and depress them completely. The correct squares are:
- Abandonment
- Teaar
- Dead

Once you're past this puzzle and through the door, as you move forward you'll see another headstone with a symbol above it that you can scan. To your right, you'll see a series of ladders. Scanning that headstone and every other one you see that has a gold symbol above it can help you solve the next puzzle, as you head up the ladders and then down a set of platforms.
Once you're down the platforms, walk forward and then take a left down an open path, and then right up two sets of stairs. You'll have to face some Hollow creatures along the way so be prepared, but it's nothing too strenuous.
After passing through a door with a lever to its right, you'll face the third and final major puzzle in the Temple of the Fallen.
Unlike the previous puzzle that had you stepping on plates, this one requires you do them in a specific order.
First, you'll step on the square all the way to the right, in the line that's furthest from the door. The symbol is an open palm and a chalice. Second, moving one row up, you'll step on the square that's to the left of the center of the room, the dagger and eye symbol. Third is the right-most square in the third line, one row closer to the door, with a stabbed person kneeling. Fourth, in the line closest to the door, you'll step on the left-most square with the twin snakes.

After making it through, just follow the path forward until you reach the boss fight for the Keystone of Ecstasy. You'll have to cross a hall that has a swarm of Hollow creatures, but none of them have proper health bars, and they all die within one hit, making them not much of a challenge.
