Google has seen fit to release an update for its YouTube for iOS app with a new Topics feature. The new feature will allow users to filter out certain topics that will curate the YouTube subscription feed. Users can then watch videos of their favorite creators easily. Let's dive in to see some more details on the subject.
Filter YouTube Subscription Feed And Watch More Relevant Videos According to the Topics
The topics will appear below the top row corresponding to the followed channels and act as filters for content that you have previously subscribed to. There are several topics to choose from and apart from just watching the videos that you are subscribed to, you can basically limit your YouTube subscription feed to only show videos that are published Today, Unwatched videos, Live videos and more.
If you're unfamiliar with the technique, follow the step by step instructions below and you will be able to filter your YouTube subscription feed easily.
1. Simply launch the YouTube app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
2. Now, tap on the Subscription tab situated at the bottom.
3. Lastly, you will see a carousel below the top row of followed channels. You can swipe on it to reveal more Topics and select the one that you see best for your needs.
The default setting is 'All' which shows all videos from the channels that you have subscribed to ranging from the newest to oldest videos. The 'Today' section will show you videos that are published within the past 24 hours. In addition, you can also filter YouTube subscription feed to 'Continue Watching' for videos that you haven't finished watching. Then there is an option for Unwatched videos, Live Videos, and Posts, the last option will show you community posts.
According to Google, the tests have shown that the new topics feature will encourage more subscribers to come to their subscriptions feed for updates. However, it's not at all compulsory and simply an option available to use if you feel like it.
There will be more to the story, so be sure to stay tuned in for more. This is all for now, folks. What are your thoughts on the matter? Share your views with us in the comments section below.
