In Silent Hill f, you will often find locked doors that require completing puzzles to unlock. One of these is the door that you will find in the Shrine Vault, which can only be opened by discovering and aligning correctly three different symbols on a dial lock. Where to Find the Shrine Vault Puzzle
The Shrine Vault puzzle is another puzzle that must be completed to proceed in the main story, so it's impossible to miss. You will find it in the Shrine Path, which you will get to explore shortly after solving the Shrine Path Altar puzzle.
Shrine Vault Puzzle Solution
To complete the Shrine Vault puzzle and open the big locked shrine door, you must align three combination lock dials so that they display three specific symbols. As the lock is missing one of the three dials, you must also locate it to proceed. The correct symbols are found behind three specific ema plaques located in the area showing lightning, a decayed tree, and a kudzu, a vine native to Japan.
Shrine Vault Puzzle: Lightning Symbol Location
The first symbol is found behind an ema plaque located to the west of the small shrine where you found the ceremonial knife on your way to the locked shrine door. The correct plaque is easy to spot because no one looks like it.
Shrine Vault Puzzle: Decayed Tree Symbol Location
The second symbol can be found behind an ema showing a tree plaque located to the northwest of the shrine where you collected the ceremonial knife. Once again, this plaque is unique, and there's none like it in the vicinity.
Shrine Vault Puzzle: Kudzu Symbol and Third Combination Lock Dial Location
The kudzu symbol and the missing combination lock dial are found behind the ema plaque showing the vine located right to the south of the shrine with the ceremonial knife.
Shrine Vault Puzzle: Cat Omamori Location (Optional)
Besides the symbols required to open the door, the ema plaques in the area hold another optional secret, an Omamori amulet which reduces damage taken while dodging if equipped. You can find it to the west of the central shrine.
