Here's a complete step by step guide on how you can reset home screen icon layout on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

iOS 9 security

When you boot into iOS for the first time, there's a specific layout of the icons which Apple opts to go with for the home screen, on top of which you throw in your own customizations and make adjustments according to your liking. But, let's face it, there comes a point in moving those icons around the home screen where you're forced to believe you that might have gone a little too far. If that's the case, did you know that you can revert back to the stock home screen layout once again? Yup, that's right, it's absolutely possible, and in today's guide, we'll show you how it's done.

How To Reset Home Screen Icon Layout On iPhone, iPad

1. Launch the Settings app from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch's home screen.

2. Scroll down a little till you see an option called 'General.' Tap to open it.

3. Scroll all the way down and look for an entry labelled 'Reset.' Tap on that as well to open.

4. Over here, you'll be presented with a bunch of options. Tap on the option labelled 'Reset Home Screen Layout.' Make sure you DO NOT tap on anything else as there's a possibility of losing your files and photos in one fell swoop.

5. Tap on the 'Reset Home Screen' button in the confirmation popup.

At this point, your device will restart, and after a few minutes, you'll boot back into iOS with all your icons back to their default layout, exactly how they were when you booted your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch fresh for the first time ever. Also keep in mind that reseting the home screen layout will not affect your files, photos or data, and it will not delete any apps. Instead, everything will stay as it is, with your third-party apps moved to the second page onwards, if you have installed any in the first place.

Reseting your home screen layout is a great way to revert to a phase on your device which is slightly more saner than your currently unorganized setup, giving you a great chance to start all over again and arrange things as nicely as possible. After all, this option doesn't delete anything off your device, which means you can perform it any number of times you like until you get things right.
