The battle for the best smartphone camera is something that never ends. For years, we have seen phones from the likes of Huawei, Google, Oppo, Apple, and Samsung dominating the charts, but things have started to shift as the Honor Magic6 Pro has taken the top spot at DXOMark, beating Oppo Find X7 Ultra, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+, and a number of other phones from reputable companies.
The Honor Magic6 Pro is now the top-rated smartphone in terms of camera performance
Honestly, this is also a surprise to me. I am not saying that the Honor Magic6 Pro is not capable. I've just never seen a proper flagship from a company competing against some of the most powerful smartphones in terms of imagery, and Honor has proven that. The phone scored an astounding 158 points on the independent test.
The Honor Magic6 Pro scored 160 overall points in photo, 85 in Bokeh, 83 in preview, 160 in zoom, and 150 in the video. The phone managed to perform exceptionally well both indoors and outdoors and delivered really good performance in low-light conditions, as well.
DXOMark talked about how the phone delivers vivid and natural colors in both photos and videos. Honor Magic6 Pro also manages to retain its detail in Zoom. The autofocus was also praised thoroughly, and the same is the case with portraits, so it is safe to say that if you are looking for a well-rounded smartphone camera, you are going to get an excellent experience with this device.
Now, all the good things about the Honor Magic6 Pro aside, some downsides are also mentioned. For starters, the phone produces unnatural detail rendering in photos, zoom, and video. There can be some sharpness difference in video frames when you are recording. In addition to that, high-contrast scenes can show some artifacts, and there is motion blur on portraits in low-light scenes. However, the pros easily outweigh the cons, and if you are looking for something stellar, then the camera on this phone is not going to disappoint you.
If you are wondering about the phones that the Honor Magic6 Pro went up against and defeated, then you are going to be amazed as the phone outperformed Oppo Find X7 Ultra, Huawei Mate 60 Pro+, Huawei P60 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, Google Pixel 8 Pro, and several other phones. All of this combined makes Honor's latest flagship a force to be reckoned with. If you are interested in checking out the full breakdown of the scores, you can read the full report here.
