There is no denying that Xiaomi has managed to make a name for itself in the smartphone industry by delivering hit after hit. The one form factor the company has not tried so far has been flip phones, but that is going to change soon as we see the Xiaomi MIX Flip. The real-life image of the phone has just surfaced, and we are expecting the device to launch sometime this year.
The Xiaomi MIX Flip is a much-needed entry in the flip phone segment
Now, the alleged Xiaomi MIX Flip that you will see in the image below does not look a lot different than some of the other flip phones we see in the market. This is not a point that should bother people as there is not much you can change on a flip phone, to begin with. As far as this device is concerned, Xiaomi has done everything that it possibly could, including two cameras on the back and a screen.
As you can see in the image above, the Xiaomi MIX Flip does look really similar to all the other flip phones in the market, and that is not necessarily a bad thing, to be honest. I mean, you are looking at two cameras on top, with the familiar Leica branding as well as the LED flash on the other side of the phone. Just underneath the camera island, you see the screen, which covers a decent part of the back of the phone. It is not the biggest cover display, but it appears to be big enough to get the job done.
Based on all the information we have received, the Xiaomi MIX Flip will offer Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and it will also have 67W fast charging. We are also expecting a 50-megapixel primary sensor in the form of the OmniVision OV50A, and the other sensor is probably ultra-wide, which is always a good thing. There is no official word on when the phone will be released, but based on all the information that we have heard, it could debut later this year alongside the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4. But do keep in mind that we are just going on guesswork here, and we don't know the exact date.
Whatever the case might be, the Xiaomi MIX Flip is going to add a nice bit of competition to the clamshell foldable market, which has largely been dominated by Samsung. I have a feeling that the device will debut internationally as well, so we will see a larger adaptability in the market.
