Guns of Eschaton blends Souls-like combat, occult western imagery, and Viktor Antonov’s final vision into a brutal FPS set in a dying America.

Today, newly established developer Eschatology Entertainment and publisher 4Divinity announced Guns of Eschaton, a new mystical Western first-person shooter game fused with a Souls-like level of challenge.

The game takes place in a reimagined 19th-century American West that has fallen into an apocalypse, and it's set in the final original universe conceived by the late Viktor Antonov (who suddenly passed away last year and is mainly known for his contributions to games like Half-Life 2, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and Dishonored).

Guns of Eschaton follows a lone gunslinger traveling from the West to the East Coast through a dying America, where survival depends on preparation, timing, and smart resource use. Combat centers on specialized ammunition, parries, dashes, and a Codex system that reveals enemy weaknesses through Sequence Points, encouraging players to approach each encounter methodically rather than relying on brute force.

Players will be able to shape their own gunslinger through firearms, ammo types, occult powers, talismans, armor, consumables, and a mix of active and passive abilities, hinting at a strong emphasis on buildcrafting, with enough room for different playstyles to emerge across repeated runs or co-op sessions. Indeed, Guns of Eschaton also supports co-op, with full progression available in online multiplayer, though the press release does not specify the maximum number of players.

The Studio Head of Eschatology Entertainment (a fully remote studio that employs 75 people across 8 countries and is backed by GEM Capital, The Games Fund, and KRAFTON), Fuad Kuliev, said in a statement:

We are incredibly honoured to be revealing Guns of Eschaton, the final project shaped by the extraordinary vision of Viktor Antonov. From the earliest stages of development, I had the privilege of shaping this world together with Viktor: where ideas, themes, and concepts evolved through his talent into the world players will see today. Viktor's imagination and creative legacy have been a constant source of inspiration throughout development, and this game is the result of an incredible collaborative effort from our entire team to bring that vision to life. We are proud to share it with players around the world in partnership with our publisher, 4Divinity.

Guns of Eschaton can be wishlisted on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S and X. It has no release date at the time being.
